Friends of the Underline gathered to celebrate the non-profit’s season opener at the SLS LUX Brickell. Singer Emily Estefan performed three songs as her legendary parents Gloria and Emilio sang along to support her. Over 300 guests and Miami VIPs enjoyed light bites provided by Katsuya Brickell and refreshing cocktails sponsored by Ron Barcelo in honor of the 10 mile activation. Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard and Nick D’Annunzio board member & Founder of TARA, Ink., kept the audience engaged as emcees of the night. Other notable guests in attendance included: President & CEO of The Underline Meg Daly, Mayor Francis Suarez, Commissioner Eileen Higgins, and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Alberto Ibarguen.
The Underline is a planned 10-mile urban trail, linear neighborhood park and living art destination that will span from the Miami River, north of Brickell Metrorail station, to Dadeland South. The Underline project will feature dedicated bike and pedestrian paths, amenities, art, lighting, native vegetation as well as safety features and improvements at road crossings, as well as community-based health and wellness, cultural and educational programming.
