9th Annual South Florida Day of the Dead CelebrationFriday, November 2, 4pm-11pm – Huizenga Plaza, 32 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale

Get ready for the ninth installment of the ever popular and spirited festival of remembrance and revelry! On this date, it is believed that the gateway between Mictlan, the ancient Aztec land of the dead, and our own opens up so we can dance and sing with our lost loved ones for one special time of year. The Consul General of Mexico and Mayor of Fort Lauderdale and City and County Commissioners will be welcoming all of the skeleton guests to the processional at 6pm FRIDAY November 2nd after Danza Azteca’s opening Mesoamerican Dance on the Huizenga Plaza. Come dressed to march along the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. Marchers will meet at the Huizenga Park Bandshell at 5:30 for a Puppet Manipulation workshop… Then the Processional Starts at 6:30. A family day in the park from 4-6:30 will happen in Huizenga Plaza prior to the processional. Makeup artists and craft activities for a nominal fee will help you and your kids get ready for the skeleton processional. This is a FREE public event.
