LnS GALLERY will showcase the photographic series, “Quarantine: 40 Days & 40 Nights” by Geandy Pavón, through a focus exhibition in celebration of his recent Fellowship Award in the Visual Arts as presented by the CINTAS Foundation. An opening reception for the notable series will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 6pm – 9pm.
Throughout this series of work, Pavón draws inspiration from art history to convey the new reality brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each individual still is both timely and alluring, illustrating strong everlasting sentiments brought to the surface by isolation, yet captured with a creativity cultivated by this unique moment in human history. Pavón reminds us of the inherent universality of man through the ages by each photograph included in this series. “Quarantine: 40 Days & 40 Nights” played an integral role in the fellowship awarded to Pavón by the CINTAS Foundation in December of 2021.
Geandy Pavón is a multi-disciplinary artist who explores the ills that plague global society. Pavón’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions such as “Caribbean: Crossroads of the World,” at The Studio Museum of Harlem and PAMM; “The X Files Bienal” at El Museo del Barrio; the Annenberg Space for Photography as part of Pacific Time LA/LA; and at the USF Contemporary Museum of Art in Tampa, Florida. His photo series “The Cuban-Americans” was recently added to the permanent collection of El Museo del Barrio.
