222 TACO is launching a new late-night concept, ‘La Margarita Shop,’ on National Margarita Day (2/22). When the shades go down and the music goes up, 222 TACO will transform into its alter ego, a late-night supper club, welcoming an expanded cocktail menu and eclectic music programming. At this go-to North Bay Village gem, every day is National Margarita Day as the neon lights on the facade boast.
Not only is 222 National Margarita Day, but it is also its owner Anna Robbins’ birthday, who created this concept with the intention of providing an alternative nightlife haven for those who want to enjoy killer music, quality drinks and superb company without the stress and hassle of overpriced cocktails, long lines, cover charges, lack of parking and overbearing music.
La Margarita Shop features an extensive selection of nearly 100 agave spirits including, but not limited to, Tromba, Angelisco, Mi Campo and Clase Azul Tequilas plus Montelobos, Del Maguey and Zunte Mezcales. The Margarita menu features everything from traditional versions made with tequila and mezcal, to creative iterations such as OtherRitas made with spirits such as vodka, gin, rum, whisky or cognac, to MamaRitas, featuring rosé, sauvignon blanc or pinot noir wines, and NadaRitas, a mocktail spin on the classic cocktail. Robbins’ signature popsicle margaritas have been reincarnated as MargaLetas and will be offered in various flavors including hibiscus and passionfruit.
Agave flights are available for those who want to experience the spirits in their true form. Tromba Tequila, Casamigos Tequila and Del Maguey Mezcal flights will be offered starting at $33, and will be paired with a housemade Sangrita, consisting of tomato juice, citrus and spices. Sal de gusano and orange slices will be available for the mezcal. At La Margarita Shop, a #SipDontShoot culture is encouraged.
In conjunction with the bar launch, La Margarita Shop will offer a late-night Favorites Menu, featuring some of the most popular dishes from their Cali-Mex menu, such as Nacho Friends, Tacos Al Pastor, Carne Asada Fries and Mexican Pizza. The music programming on 2/22 will feature an all-female DJ line-up including DJ Brooke G, Pam Jones and more. Robbins’ signature margaritas will be sampled throughout the day and into the night.
Hours of operation for La Margarita Shop are Sunday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m and Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 2:22 a.m.
