LeBron James Gets Engaged on New Year’s Eve

LeBron James Gets Engaged on New Year's EveSaturday December 31 – Vesper American Brasserie at Shelborne Hotel, 1800 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach

James got engaged on New Year’s Eve to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson at a private dinner at Vesper American Brasserie at the newly renovated Shelborne Hotel on Miami Beach. LeBron has been dating his high school sweetheart, since they were both 16. They have two sons, LeBron Jr., 7, and Bryce, 4.
LeBron proposed at a private dinner party, hosted by Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wade and his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, which was also a belated birthday party. (LeBron turned 27 the day before.) The private dinner didn’t get underway until after 11 p.m. and was hosted by Remy Martin V. There were 50 friends in attendance who watched James get down on one knee and propose toward the end of dinner. Enjoying the spirit of choice that night were model Jessica White, rapper Nas, Queen Latifah, actress Gabrielle Union, Gloria James (LeBron’s mom), Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and Bosh’s wife, Adrienne Williams-Bosh. After presenting Savannah with a pear-shaped diamond, LeBron picked up their sons and swung them around on the floor.
James also had his birthday cake present. Devine Delicacies, who made the cake in half a day, describes the cake as “fit for a King [with] vanilla rum, edible 18k lion, and Swarovski Crystals.”
Following dinner, James, Wade and Bosh headed poolside to the Shelborne’s SL Nightclub to lead the countdown to 2012 with featured singer Lauryn Hill. Hill then sang several of her hits before a surprise performance with rapper Nas. In attendance at the party were actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, rapper Fat Joe, and actress Sanaa Lathan.
A wedding date was not announced. Brinson attended the Heat’s game next day and was sporting a lovely gem on her ring finger.
