2012 Brain Fair at Miami Science Museum

2012 Brain Fair at Miami Science MuseumSaturday, March 17, 10am-4pm – Miami Science Museum, 3280 South Miami Avenue, Miami

The Miami Science Museum is encouraging kids of all ages to become “brainiacs” about the brain during the free, fun-filled Annual Brain Fair, designed to teach children and their parents about how the brain and spinal cord function. Attendees will have the chance to participate in exciting hands-on activities such as holding a real brain, finding out if they are super tasters, discovering ways to be smarter, building their own neuron, and learning how each part of the brain works. Additionally, kids will enjoy face painting of brains and neurons, puppet shows about how the brain works, and more.  Throughout the event, participants can enjoy talks about various aspects of the brain by University of Miami medical professionals. Also, the Miami Brain Bee, open to high school students grades 9-12, is similar to a spelling bee, except that it tests knowledge of the nervous system. Top contestants will receive a prize.
