Sicilia Queer Filmfest at the Sicilian Film Festival

Sicilia Queer Filmfest at the Sicilian Film FestivalMonday, April 16, 8:30pm – M.B.Cinematheque, 1130 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach

One of the most anticipated screenings at the Sicilian Film Festival this year is the presenation of short films from the Sicilian Queer Filmfest. The screening is perceded by a reception, hosted by the LGBT Visitor Center and the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival held at the LGBT Visitor Center, 1130 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach (doors open at 8 p.m.). The selection of short films comes from the Sicilian Queer Film Festival Paermo and consists of five shorts: “K@biria” by Sigfrido Giammona, “From Moment to Moment” by Fulvio Perna, “After” by Mark Pariselli, “What’s the Difference” by Maurilio Mangano, “Water Welles” by Iyar Dyoman and Sivan Levy. Sicilian Queer Filmfest is the first International LGBT Film Festival and New Visions coming from Sicily. It stems from the widespread demand and need to represent the changing society we live in. Using cinema, Queer brings a fresh way of looking at ideas of citizenship, social justice, civil rights, and personal freedom. Queer goes beyond GLBT issues, breaking new ground in terms of cinematic techniques, as well as unorthodox, independent and alternative approaches to film production and distribution: in other words, “new visions.”
