The Women’s Breast Health Initiative will celebrate its 5th Annual Open the Door fundraiser featuring delectable dining, fabulous entertainment and an exciting live auction. Local 10 News anchor Calvin Hughes will be the emcee for the signature event that will honor Turnberry Associates, John O’Hara, III and the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes for their commitment to breast cancer prevention. Tickets are $75 per person, and proceeds from the event will benefit WBHI programs. The nonprofit focuses on the importance of breast health using a proactive, preventative and unique approach to help uninsured women in south Florida gain access to the medical services they need. Through its door-to-door neighborhood outreach campaigns, WBHI provides free breast health information, referrals and mammograms to underserved women in our community. Since 2005, the organization has knocked on the doors of more than 45,000 homes in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. With a volunteer base that’s nearly 5,000 strong, WBHI has provided more than 1,300 free mammograms, which have resulted in finding breast cancer at twice the national average.
