The Youth Power Movement (YPM), best known for its Pull Your Pants Up campaign to help mentor inner city school children, hosted its inaugural Humanitarian Awards Extravaganza. To be honored for their dedication to helping South Florida school children were: former Miami Heat star Tim Hardaway; Mario Murgado, president and CEO of Brickell Motors; philanthropist and founder of Kim’s Good Karma Group Kimberly Shenker-Bacardi, and Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, who represents the 17th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Guests enjoyed gourmet cuisine prepared by top chefs, musical entertainment, display of artwork by acclaimed artist Joel Gresham and a silent auction that includes a one-on-one two-hour basketball lesson donated by Tim Hardaway. Guests also heard inspiring testimonials from students YPM has helped and their mentors and teachers. The event was hosted by Donovan Campbell, sports anchor on WSVN 7 News.
Henry Petithomme who is also known as “Mr. P”to most students is the mastermind behind the Youth Power Movement Organization. The goal of this wonderful organization is to expose this young generation to the leaders of the community which include business professionals, college students, parents and others… His campaign, “Pull Your Pants Up” is geared towards building the self-esteem of young leaders by just simply placing REAL everyday leaders in front of them.
