7th Annual National Animal Rights Day

7th Annual National Animal Rights DaySunday, June 4, 12pm-7pm – Regatta Park, 2700 S Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove

The activities will kick-off with a public requiem ceremony in which hundreds of individuals will stand in unified formation holding posters of animals who have died as a result of human abuse and exploitation. During the event, The Declaration of Animal Rights will be unveiled, proclaimed and signed. This 100-foot long scroll pronounces the rights of all animals and bears thousands of signatures from people around the world, in multiple languages, in support of the rights of animals. Organized by non-profit Our Planet. Theirs Too., the ceremony is intended to show the public first-hand the results of our society’s brutal treatment of animals, and to commemorate the 50 billion animals who are killed every year in the U.S., for food, their fur and skins, laboratory tests, and entertainment. Similar events have been held in Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Israel, and Australia.
1:00pm – ceremony with animals begins with an opening siren
1:45pm – participants will read and sign the Declaration of Animal Rights
2-5pm – guest speakers, performers, info tables, cruelty-free lifestyle displays and free plant-based food available for attendees and the public
5pm-7pm – 4 designers will be showcasing their latest looks in a runway presentation featuring models in Animal-Cruelty-Free Makeup and Clothing. Designers Nonsense305, Khasamarina, Marvin Garcia, and In-Your-Honor along with a Special-Performance by Hip-Hop Activist Steve Grant.
