“Deductions” Rooftop Performance at Emerson Dorsch

"Deductions" Rooftop Performance at Emerson DorschMonday, December 4, 6pm – Emerson Dorsch, 5900 NW 2nd Ave, Miami

Deductions” considers the context of the gallery as a repository of sound for the neighborhood. Utilizing the intimacy of the gallery rooftop, multiple composers and artists will explore the derivatives in sound, while also working with various materials, approaches, and techniques. This evening performance will offer a place for the convergence of Little Haiti’s noise. For this group exhibition, curator Tyler Emerson-Dorsch invited artists to consider Edwidge Danticat’s story “Sunrise, Sunset.” With its metaphors for the delicacy of memories and conveying knowledge across difference, the story provides a map for thinking through what is at stake in what we as a gallery, curator, and artists do, where we are, and who we are. The exhibition will be on view through January 19, 2018. @EmersonDorsch
