Caution and Inform: Posters and Preventative Behavior–The printed poster plays a special role in public health emergencies by spreading awareness and promoting preventative behavior. The presentation of Graphic Intervention: 25 Years of International AIDS Awareness Posters 1985–2010 at The Wolfsonian May 11-September 9, provides 153 examples of the work of graphic designers toward this effort. This panel discussion, moderated by Steven Heller, co-chair of the School of the Visual Arts MFA Designer as Author + Entrepreneur Department, and author of the Visuals column for the New York Times Book Review, includes veteran poster artists Chaz Maviyane-Davies, designer and Professor of Design at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and Lanny Sommese, Professor and Graphic Design Department Head at Penn State University.
