InterContinental Miami hosted a kickoff celebration in honor of the upcoming 18th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball benefiting Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. Held each year at the downtown landmark and attended by more than 250 of South Florida’s leading philanthropists, the exclusive preview event celebrated the annual Ball, to be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Generating even more buzz for the already highly anticipated affair, the “Three Amigos”— Norman Wedderburn, President/CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, Shareef Malnik, Ball Chairman and proprietor of The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar, and Robert Hill, Ball Host and General Manager of InterContinental Miami unveiled key details about the Ball’s recently announced “India” theme and exciting items to be bid on during the Ball’s live auction, which will be emceed by USA Network’s “Burn Notice” star Gabrielle Anwar. Guests also enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as prepared by InterContinental Miami Executive Chef Alexander Feher while being entertained with beats by DJ Irie.
Last year’s 17th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball, otherwise known as “The Party of the Century” in homage to Truman Capote’s legendary Black & White Ball, featured a live auction emceed by Burn Notice star Gabrielle Anwar, a live performance by legendary rock ‘n’ roll icon Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and, for the fourth year in a row, an official after party at the InterContinental Make-A-Wish Nightclub that celebrated the evening’s success of having raised $1.1 million and surpassing the $10 million lifetime fundraising milestone.
The mission of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions seeking to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Covering a 13-county territory of Southern Florida, the chapter’s goal is to grant more than 500 wishes in 2012.
