Thursday, June 28, 6-8pm – Miami Art Museum, 101 W. Flagler Street, Downtown Miami
Miami Art Museum’s new exhibition Kimsooja’s A Needle Woman consists of a video installation set in the densely populated cities of Cairo, Delhi, Lagos, London, Mexico City, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo. In each projection a figure stands motionless with her back to the camera, immersed amid a torrent of pedestrians. Also part of the exhibit are two other videos by Kimsooja which offer a vision of serenity, a counterpoint to the frenetic energy of the 21st century global city. MAM associate curator Rene Morales speaks with Kimsooja at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited and seating is first come, first seated. Cost to attend is $10 for non-members and free for MAM members. Parking available at 50 N.W. 2nd Avenue for $5.
