Before Covid-19, South Florida Dame/Chef Maude Eaton and Miami freelance food writer Sara Liss were well known for their popular pop-up dinners—which were called “The Saffron Supper Club”— Middle-Eastern pop-up dining experiences. These dinners were always amazing, featuring delicious food with lots of info about the cuisine’s cultural background.
Now Maude and Sara are doing a special private Saffron Supper Club Cooking Class just for the South Florida Dames d’Escoffier! They’ll take us on a journey through the Middle East focusing on Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine and culture.
Maude, whose company “For the Love of Food,” @maudeeaton, pursues culinary adventures by teaching classes at Williams Sonoma, private cooking classes, and by doing private catering. Maude will be showing us how to make Salad Shirazi, a Persian chopped salad with herbs and lemon dressing; and Kebab Kubideh, a Persian beef kabob with aromatic spices, served with lavash bread and grilled tomatoes.
Sara Liss has been covering the Miami food scene for the last ten years. She also dabbles in travel and design writing and has started a few community events along the way including Saffron Supper Club, @SaffronSupperClub, and @FridayBeaching, a neighborhood celebration that happens in her town of Surfside the first Friday of the month in the summer. Sara will be talking about the history and culture of Persian and Middle Eastern food.
