Third Horizon Film Festival 2018September 27 – 30, O Cinema Wynwood, 90 NW 29th St, Miami Wynwood Arts District

The third annual Third Horizon Film Festival (THFF) returns to Miami September 27-30, 2018, with a line-up of urgent new cinema from the Caribbean, its diaspora and beyond. As we continue to find ourselves in an era where a hegemonic establishment seeks to shore itself up to the exclusion of minority communities worldwide, never has it been more necessary to foreground independent filmmaking voices that are unafraid to do what cinema, at its radical and resisting best, does so well: speak truth to power. And so in curating this year’s THFF, the program reflect the idea of cinema as a socially and politically disruptive tool, both in terms of form and content. The result is a compellingly diverse lineup of films—features, shorts and mid-length works; fiction, documentary and hybrids of both—by a variety of filmmakers unapologetically looking to, as the Haitian writer Edwidge Danticat put it, create dangerously. These are films unafraid to discommode and discomfit, to challenge and subvert, in often unusual and exciting ways. Third Horizon Film Festival returns to Pérez Art Museum Miami to launch the third edition of its festival with the Florida premiere of the acclaimed documentary Black Mother, followed by an electric party on the terrace with DJ Juls. #THFF2018 #ThirdHorizon #CaribbeanFilm #KnightArts
