"Metamorphosis" Artist Reception at MOCA North MiamiThursday, October 19, 7pm-9pm – Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th St, North Miami

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami will open its fall season with the presentation of Edouard Duval-Carrié: Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis features 37 new paintings and sculptures by the artist, who is Haitian-born but calls Miami home. Curated by Anthony Bogues, Ph.D. and Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University, the exhibition will be on display through November 5, 2017. Centering on the symbolic and cultural histories of Haiti and the Caribbean, Duval-Carrié’s artistic themes are many variations on the historic life of the region, blending his distinct aesthetic with the everyday. The artist’s reception will be open from 7-9 p.m. and will provide an opportunity for visitors to meet and greet Duval-Carrié and be immersed into works that have not been shown before.
