The Boca Raton Resort & Club welcomed guests to the American Fine Wine CompetitionÂ (AFWC) gala in a celebration of the nationâ€™s finest wines while raising awareness and over $70,000 in proceeds for the Diabetes Research Institute. Considered to be the wine event of the year, the gala yielded an estimated 200 elated guests eager to celebrate over 600 of the finest wines fostered in the United States. Guests that attended the gala ranged from a mixture of industry professionals, judges, sommeliers, restaurateurs and educators.
The evening commenced with the glamorous signature â€œSparkling Receptionâ€ featuring the sparkling and white wines from this yearâ€™s competition and from 22 visiting wineries. As guests proceed to their tables through the vineyard inspired setting they were greeted by â€œWine Angelsâ€, which poured over 600 wines and provided the unforgettable experience of tasting the countryâ€™s finest wines. All the while Gourmet culinary artistry capturing the guestsâ€™ fascination with ease, put together by highly distinguished chefs Norman Van Aken, Chef Angelo Elia, Chef Deam Max, and fourth season Hellâ€™s Kitchen winner Chef Christina Machamer.
The bright and charming Shari Gherman,president of AFWC, floated among the guests with grace, providing a comforting humble greeting for each guest personally. The evening also hosted the charitable Wine and Cork Auction, where attendees bid on wines signed by the winemakers themselves. Live entertainment by American/European sensation Hilary Kole, set the tone for this magical evening and continued through the night.
