The 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game is a postseason college football bowl game scheduled for Monday, January 7, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. It will feature the #1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama is representing the Southeastern Conference, which has participated in every standalone BCS Championship Game (since the format was introduced in the 2006-2007 season) and has won the past six National Championship games. Notre Dame does not belong to a conference and is the first independent team to play in the National Championship game since the start of the BCS.Â Notre Dame finished the season 12-0 and ranked 1st in the final BCS Standings. Alabama, the 2012 SEC Champions, finished 12-1 and ranked 2nd in the BCS.
