Pleasures of the Palate, which benefits the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute, was held on January 13, 2013, at the exclusive La Gorce Country Club of Miami Beach. Norman Van Aken, legendary Chef/Director of Tuyo at The Miami Culinary Institute and author of the just released recipe book, My Key West Kitchen, returns to the event he helped create more than 14 years ago. Van Aken teamed up with La Gorce Executive Chef, Tim Nickey, to design and prepare a tantalizing, gourmet dinner at the exclusive La Gorce Country Club on Miami Beach. Chef Nickey comes to La Gorce from years of Executive Chef experience at Morton’s Steakhouse, Abe & Louie’s Steakhouse, Dragon Sushi & Kobe Club Miami. The evening started with a cocktail party featuring an array of delicious passed hors d’oeuvres and sparkling wine, and continued with four courses of Chef Norman’s signature dishes from My Key West Kitchen, paired with perfect wines to enhance flavors.
