39th Annual Love and Hope Ball

39th Annual Love & Hope BallSaturday, February 2, 6:30PM-10:30PM – Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, 3555 S Ocean Drive, Hollywood

Spanning nearly four decades, the Love and Hope Ball is the signature fundraising event for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), a recognized world leader in cure-focused research located at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. What began as a singular idea to host a gala to raise much-needed funds for the DRI has evolved into a South Florida tradition and a lasting legacy. Throughout its history, Love and Hope has raised close to $40 million.
Due to its unique presentation, spectacular décor and entertainment, and the opportunity to raise funds for an important cause, the Love and Hope Ball is recognized as one of the area’s highly esteemed charity fundraisers, uniting many of South Florida’s philanthropic families. This extraordinary affair has drawn some of the most influential social, political and civic leaders in the community, as well as a number of celebrities, including Love and Hope International Chairman Barry Gibb and the Bee Gees, Tony Bennett, Gregory Hines, Sophia Loren, and Olivia Newton-John to name a few.
Even more impressive than the event itself are the women behind it, many of whom have been involved since inception. Always at the helm is Life Chairman Sonja Zuckerman who has pledged her tireless support until a cure is found. At her side are Executive Chairman Sandra Levy, International Chairman Linda Gibb, and National Chairman Kathy Simkins, plus a 70-member Committee and Young Society – all dedicated to surpassing the previous year’s success and to furthering research for a biological cure for diabetes.
