With the New Year and the holiday season behind us, the time for trade fairs, art shows, and the festival season is in full swing. With South Florida’s bounty of art fairs, shows, events, and gatherings this January, West Palm Beach has entered the Basel season boosting the contemporary art fairs. Returning for its fourth edition, The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair held its VIP preview Thursday, January 9, 2020, before the art fair opens to the general public, starting January 10 through January 12.
The VIP preview was sponsored by the award-winning Israeli jewelry brand Yvel. Where visitors had the opportunity to visit the Yvel booth to get a look at the luxe jewelry pieces up-close, the one-of-a-kind collections, and Yvel’s latest collection for 2020, Art To Wear. The collection features pearls and new gems, and other forms of precious works of art on the body.
The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair shows the Sculpture Garden, Modern, and Contemporary Art and Post-War works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair also has a wide variety of work from around the globe from such places as France, The United Kingdom, Venezuela, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, and of course, artists from Palm Beach and the rest of the South Florida areas. The art fair also has the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden. One of the sculptures in the garden is a piece by sculptor Federico Uribe, who used recycled material for his sculptors. Christina Major’s work at the JF Gallery was a favorite amongst visitors at the VIP preview. Major’s oil canvas of Sofia Loren was seen as a favorite.
The event will award Beth Rudin DeWoody with the Lifetime Visionary Award Saturday, January 11 at 4 p.m. Director Nick Korniloff has described The West Palm Beach art patron as, “natural talent with a vision” and “an artist with remarkable passion.”
