Seaspice Owner, Carlos Miranda, has taken his passion for art and design and created another captivating, avant-garde destination along the Miami River. With much success at the globally renowned fine dining venue and trailblazing the industry along the Miami River, Miranda is diving back into the world of art since opening his first art gallery, In Gallery, 20 years ago as the first and only gallery to bring art to the river.
The Gallery at Seaspice was revealed during Art Basel with an exclusive invite only grand opening to launch and celebrate the solo exhibition of French visionary artist-painter, Lucas Beaufort. The former industrial warehouse embodies the same sophistication and exclusivity as the restaurant boasting 10,000 sq. ft. of unmistakably chic, modern creative space and will be launched with Beaufort’s first Miami exhibit bringing it to life. The moment spectators arrive the experience begins by stepping into the courtyard garden presenting a grand mural by Beaufort swathing The Gallery’s façade.
The Cannes-born painter will be showcasing pieces custom-made for this two-part exhibition titled, “Metamorphosis.” The evolutionary exhibition will be executed in two phases over the period of one year from December 2019 to December 2020. The first phase ‘Birth’ represents the birth of the characters on a blank canvas. As a tribute to vintage cinema, this first phase, all in black and white, illustrates the beginnings of this exhibition. On the theme of purity and innocence, the characters of Lucas Beaufort named GUS GUS come alive. They intertwine with each other, forming a hymn to love, meetings and sharing.
The second phase ‘In Bloom’ which will begin in February and evolve with each season will be completed in December 2020 as a period of Metamorphosis. Like a chrysalis the GUS GUS come out of innocence and blossom as they are attracted by a wave of color. Here again as a tribute to the evolution of cinema, from black and white to color, from childhood to adulthood. “In Bloom” celebrates life and the joy of being together.
Beaufort’s latest high-profile partnership has been with W Hotels creating custom pieces at the luxury properties around the world. Beaufort has also collaborated with a number of prominent brands including Converse, The North Face, Vans and on produced murals for other brands such as Revolve and Billabong in California and Pulp 68 in Switzerland.
