2013 Las Olas Wine and Food Festival

Recognized as a one of the most anticipated wine and culinary events of the year, the 18th Annual Las Olas Wine & Food Festival, presented by Bombay Sapphire® Gin, Apothic Wines, The Naked Grape Wines, Shellback Caribbean Rum, & Premier Beverage Company, returns April 14-19, 2013 on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. This year’s event features exciting new additions and a variety of pre and post-events guaranteed to elevate the Festival experience. All proceeds from the Festival benefit the American Lung Association in Florida.

The Festival kicks off on Sunday, April 14th at Las Olas Wine Cafe, where guests can purchase a $20 wine card to sample select wines that will be featured at the street festival, with 20% going back to the American Lung Association in Florida. The event will go all day from 12-10 p.m., with live music entertaining the crowd from 2-6 p.m. Guests will be able to purchase bottles of their favorites that evening.

On Tuesday, April 16th from 7-9 p.m., the Festival continues with “A Perfect Pairing” at Cheese Culture. Sponsored by The Crimson Wine Group, the event will feature a wine and cheese tasting and seminar hosted by Susan Phillips, owner of Cheese Culture. Guests will explore the longstanding relationship between delicious cheese and fine wine. Tickets are limited to 30 guests.

On Wednesday, April 17th, Preston’s Wine & Martini Bar will host its popular “Wine and Dine Wednesday” from 6-9 p.m. inside of the classic Riverside Hotel. Chef Toby Joseph will prepare a five-course pairing menu, featuring gourmet tapas paired perfectly with a selection of wines from E&J Gallo winery for attendees to savor. Tickets are $50 per person.

Napa Valley’s Chateau Montelena and Tuscan Grill join together on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m., to present the an evening of live music, interactive food stations and great wine. Guests will gather onto the patio and enjoy unlimited wine or open premium bar, as the movie Bottle Shock plays in the background to pay homage to the 1976 French wine competition when Chateau Montelena’s California Chardonnay defeated the French in a blind taste test.

The much-anticipated Street Festival, which draws attendees from all over the world each year, will be held on Friday April 19th from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. on Las Olas Boulevard, between S.E. 6th Avenue and S.E. 11th Avenue, encompassing four city blocks of food, wine and fun! This year, the street festival will feature more than 70 of South Florida’s finest restaurants and more than 45 wine tables and micro brews. Back by popular demand are Bombay Sapphire® Gin lounge for the ultimate cocktail experience, and the Culinary Couture Fashion Show by the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Popular South Florida acts, including The Weedline Band, the legendary Pan Vibes, and DJ Carlos, will perform live. Las Olas Boulevard will be closed to traffic and guests have the opportunity to visit restaurants, retailers, art galleries and sidewalk bistros.

For those who still have the energy to party, guests can make their way after the street festival west down Las Olas Boulevard to Bombay Sapphire’s after-party at VIBE, located in the YOLO courtyard. The party begins at 10:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets to the 2013 Las Olas Wine & Food Festival are $100 per person. Ticket prices for pre- and post-events vary.
