The 11th Annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Gala celebrated St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, its International Outreach Program (IOP) and the efforts being made to find cures for deadly pediatric diseases like cancer through research and treatment.
This year’s gala welcomed more than 900 guests and one of the largest red carpets. Gala was presented by Manuel & Mercedes Mosteiro, honored former Miami Dolphin’s coach, Coach Don Shula and featured a special headline performance by renowned Colombian singer Carlos Vives. Gala co-founder Daisy Fuentes also made a special appearance.
St. Jude freely shares its findings by speeding its research discoveries directly from its labs to the bedsides of patients, doctors, and scientists everywhere, so one child saved at St. Jude means thousands more saved around the globe. The mission of the St. Jude IOP is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic diseases worldwide, by sharing knowledge, technology, and organizational skills with doctors in partner clinics. The program has 20 partner sites in 14 countries, including Brazil, Chile, China, Costa Rica and Mexico.
