Legendary vallenato pop music sensation, Carlos Vives, opened his Miami concert at the American Airlines Arena with new single featuring Shakira, “Bicicleta.”
What followed the opening song was a mix of classics such as “Gota Fria” and “Fruta Fresca” to newer songs that still had everyone up from their seats and dancing/singing along. It was obvious that as long as he’s been in the music biz, his talent has only multiplied over the years.
Fans roared with excitement and sang along to Vives’ songs as an impressive light shows and visuals filled the arena. But more impressive than the digital and tech elements was Vives himself. His vivacious energy filled the expansive platform stage, as his vocals ranged from hit song to song.
In between sets, Vives would interact with fans, share anecdotes about his music and country and even paid a tribute to the Cuban culture, stating how much he feels for the culture and knows about the struggle. At one point in the show, a young couple made their way to the stage as a man professed his love and proposed to his now fiancée in front of thousands. To top it off, Vives serenaded the newly engaged couple with hit song, “Volvà a Nacer.”
The recently released song with artist Wisin, “Nota de Amor,” hit the sound waves and quickly catapulted to No.1 on the charts. It was no surprise than when Wisin himself made a surprise appearance during he concert to sing along, the stadium went wild.
Wisin wasn’t the only special guest. Fellow Colombian singer Fonseca came on stage and sang a tribute song to their native country. Soon after, singer Bacilos graced the audience and crooned one of his famous songs, “Caraluna.” The performances then turned into a trio, with each singer respectfully and warm-heartedly embracing while proudly waving the Colombian flag. It’s a testament to how well-respected and influencial Vives has been in the Latin music scene.
And he shows no sign of slowing down. Vives has once again made his way to the top of the charts with the recently released single, “Al Filo de tu Amor,” with which he closed the night. As attendees made their way out of the stadium, the reviews of his performance were stellar and beyond exemplary. Everyone had a good time.
Serving as an illustration to how music can unite across countries, cultures and barriers, Carlos Vives remains a legend, a star and above all, a musical maestro to all.
