Miami Rugby Football Club at WEAM

Party with the Miami Rugby Football Club at WEAMWednesday, June 26, 8pm-10pm – World Erotic Art Museum, 1205 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach

In a continuing homage to a fallen teammate who suffered a fatal injury in 2010, members of the Miami Rugby Football Club will remember Phillippe “Fiji” Leka at a pre-game reception and benefit rally at the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM). Leka was born and raised on the Island of Fiji where rugby is the national sport. The 6’2 “Fiji” played for Miami Rugby from 2001-2008 and then moved to Milwaukee to be with his wife’s family and await the birth of his child. It was during a game with the Milwaukee Harlequins that “Fiji” suffered a broken neck, leaving behind his wife Liliana Richard and daughter Xyella who is now four years old. Meet his fellow rugby players, pose for pictures with the team and share a Stout in memory of the popular player for whom an award was created in his honor to be awarded to players who go above and beyond for their rugby “family.” Admission is a donation of $15 which will go to the Fiji family.
