AIRIE Summer Salon

AIRIE Summer SalonSunday, June, 30, 5pm-8pm – Home of Valerie Grace Ricordi, 3734 Matheson Avenue, Coconut Grove

Christy Gast, Deborah Mitchell and Valerie Grace Ricordi will host an AIRIE Summer Salon to share work from the AIRIE Collection, a nonprofit that offers artists the opportunity to get to know the ecology of the Everglades by being immersed in it. By shadowing scientists in the field, hiking through the pinelands, kayaking through mangroves and exploring Cape Sable and the 10,000 Islands, artists find the inspiration to create new work and develop a deep understanding of the Everglades’ ecological importance. Enjoy a live performance by current artist in residence Ana Mendez, an audio installment by Gustavo Matamoros and light refreshments from local chefs at Ricordi’s historic Coconut Grove home, situated on the original Haden mango plantation, a stone’s throw from the house where environmentalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrote River of Grass. Tickets for the AIRIE Summer Salon are available at several levels, ranging from $50 to $1000, offering a variety of benefits, and can also be purchase at the door. Valet parking is available.
