Boca Ballet Theatre Presents BBT4PD – Dance for Those Living with Parkinson’s

Boca Ballet Theatre Presents BBT4PD – Dance for Those Living with Parkinson'sMonday, September 9, 1pm-2:30pm - Boca Ballet Theatre, 7630 NW 6th Avenue, Boca Raton

Beginning on Monday, September 9th, 2013, Boca Ballet Theatre is thrilled to introduce BBT4PD, a dance program for those in the community who are living with Parkinson’s, funded by the American Parkinson Disease Association. The program features dance classes for all levels, abilities and ages, and is free of charge to those with Parkinson’s, along with accompanying family members or caregivers. The classes are led by two Boca Ballet Theatre faculty who traveled to New York to train with Dance for PD®, a collaboration between the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group. The positive mood and upbeat energy were evident during the six week pilot program held last April, as participants moved and grooved to the music, each dancing to their own level of comfort. The benefits of this special program for those living with Parkinson’s are immeasurable. The exercises, designed to guide them within their limitations, can improve general movement and flexibility, and ultimately, can enhance their quality of life. Classes are open to anyone with Parkinson’s, no matter the advancement of their condition. Classes will be held each Monday and Thursday throughout the year, beginning on September 9th. The program has already received an overwhelming response.
