Caribbean Jazz Matazz at the Broward CenterSaturday, September 28, 8pm – Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale

The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI) has joined forces with Riddims Marketing, Inc. to present Caribbean Jazz Matazz, a fusion of jazz, reggae and calypso music featuring Barbados born saxophonist Arturo Tappin, renowned steel panist Leon Foster Thomas from Trinidad & Tobago, jazz guitarist Eugene Grey and vocalist Gem Myers from Jamaica.  The Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, the premiere high school jazz band will make a special appearance. Special guest is jazz guitarist Eugene Grey. This is a fundraiser for The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI), a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, with a mission to raise funds in the United States to enhance higher education at the University of the West Indies (UWI). The UWI community comprises the 16 member countries of the English speaking Caribbean – Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. The AFUWI is a registered US charity and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of state and federal laws. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships to deserving Caribbean students with proven financial need to attend the University of the West Indies (UWI) at various campuses throughout the region.
