The South Florida Chapter ofÂ Autism SpeaksÂ hosted it’s 3rd Annual Puzzle Pieces of Community Affair Gala,Â to recognize outstanding individuals and corporations for their exemplary leadership and commitment to the autism community.Â Frank Fernandez, of US Century Bank, served as the eventâ€™s chair.
2013 Honorees were:Â U.S. Century Bank; Roland B. Garcia Sr., Founder and CEO of Original Impressions; Marie-Ilene and Thomas Whitehurst, Mr. Whitehurst is Senior Vice President, Investments, Whitehurst Advisory Group of Raymond James & Associates; and Rose and Al Young, Mr. Young is Chairman of the South Florida Ford Dealers.
Patrons had an opportunity to bid on auction items, everything from hotel rooms and dinners to Panther’s signed jersey to Dolphin event tickets. The dining room was decorated in silver, blue and white by Production Chair, Susie Casal, of Susie Life Events. Keynote Speaker was Sam Gelfand, he is 16 years old and already a sought after speaker on the national tour. Sam’s mother, Allison Craigie, was Fund the Mission host, while Jawan Strader, of NBC 6 was the event Emcee.
Autism Speaks is the worldâ€™s leading autism science and advocacy organization and it is dedicated to research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism.Â Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Autism Speaks, North Americaâ€™s.
