The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale will launch its fall exhibition season with a talk by renowned curator Lowery Stokes Sims presented in conjunction with the opening of Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft and Design. Sims, the exhibition curator, is a specialist in modern and contemporary art and is curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Focusing on some of the most innovative conceptual and technical trends in woodworking today, Against the Grain includes installations, sculptures, furniture and objects by leading artists. Sims will speak at 6 p.m., followed by an exhibition preview and reception from 7 to 8:30 p.m. General admission is $20, Museum members $10, students $5 and free for museum Patron-level members and above.
