In partnership with the Tropical Audubon Society, Fairchild indulges bird lovers with presentations and lectures from leading ornithological experts. This yearâ€™s Bird Festival kicks off with birding field trips to South Florida bird habitats. All field trips are led by Tropical Audubon Society experts and registration includes a Bird Festival tote bag. Field trip days and locations include: Thursday October 10 a full-day tour of Miami Exotics led by Paul Bithorn and a half-day tour to AD Barnes Park led by Brian Rapoza. Friday October 11 offers a full-day tour of Curry Hammock Start Park led by Rafael Galvez and Brian Rapoza and a half-day tour of Bill Baggs Cape Florida Park FULL led by David La Puma. Full-day tours are $50 for non-member and $40 for member; half-day tours are $30 for non-member and $20 for member.Â The festival continues on Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13 with full days of activities for birders of all ages including, presentations by bird experts, bird walks, bird attracting plants and vendors and educational activities for the whole family.
