Huge crowds gathered on Las Olas Nov. 2 for the 7th Annual South Florida Day of the Dead Celebration. The skeleton processional honors traditions where community members in skeleton costumes and masks meander through villages to visit the graves of their ancestors.
Before the parade, participants enjoyed a stage of skillful performers and lined up for face painting. Once the lineup started to form, those paying tribute were asked to gather with their identifying group. From Pirates to Pets, they marched in honor of those who have passed. Mariachi musicians led the way as the processional of thousands of skeletons flowed from Huizenga Plaza west along Riverwalk.
