“The Liberty Incident Revealed” by A. Jay Cristol

The Liberty Incident Revealed by A. Jay CristolTuesday, November 5, 8pm – Books & Books, 265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables

A quarter of a century of intensive research in Israel and the U.S. – including formerly classified documents and interviews with all then-living individuals involved in the incident – has gone into A. Jay Cristol’s revision of Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty in June 1967 at the height of the Six Day War. Cutting through all of the controversy and conspiracy theories about the incident, Cristol shows the factual and documentary record is clear. Documenting his findings in six new chapters, Cristol establishes in The Liberty Incident Revealed that the Israeli attack was a tragic mistake. Heretofore unanswered questions about Israeli Air Force audio tapes intercepted by the NSA were resolved by Cristol’s successful Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the National Security Agency. The Liberty Incident Revealed is the complete and final story about the attack on the USS Liberty. Capt. A Jay Cristol, USN (Ret.) JD, PhD, served as a naval aviator, flying from the aircraft carrier Princeton during the Korean conflict, and flying volunteer missions to Vietnam during the 60s; was a Navy lawyer; practiced civil law for 25 years; and currently serves as a federal judge and teaches law at UM. He was named a Legal Legend by the Historical Society of South Florida in 2011 and recently received the Lawrence P. King Award for Excellence in Bankruptcy.
