More than 700 of the art world’s VIPs attended Prez Art Museum Miami‘s (PAMM) biggest event of the year as they commemorate the opening of the new Herzog & de Meuron designed building. Top collectors, gallerists, artists and celebrities celebrate the momentous event, one of the highlights of the season. Gala Chairs were Constance and Miguel B. “Mike” Fernandez, Susana and Alberto Ibargen, Dorothy and Aaron Podhurst, Jacquelyn Soffer and Craig Robins, Ricardo Restrepo and Lee Brian Schrager.
The night honoring Darlene and Jorge M. Perez, started with a cocktail reception in the gallery space, followed by a seated dinner and dancing in the park. Guests were treated to a special performance by Grammy Award-winning Latin superstar Marc Anthony. Stephen Starr, owner of STARR restaurants including the famed Morimoto, Buddakan and Bal Harbour’s Makoto, was an exclusive caterer and restaurateur for the museum, and also created a customized menu for the occasion.
The names of Diego Rivera, Wifredo Lam, Fernando Botero, Guillermo Kuitca, Jose Bedia, Pedro Figari, Alejandro Xul Solar, Joaquin Torres – Garcia, Matta, Carlos Enriquez are among the 110 artworks donated by Jorge Perez to the museum highlighting the best art of the Americas over the past 80 years; this art contribution to a museum institution is the biggest ever made by a Latino in the United States. The opening of PAMM is a milestone towards making Miami one of the most fascinating places to visit and live.
