An international collaboration between GableStage, the Royal Shakespeare Company in London and The Public Theatre in New York will present Tarell Alvin McCraney‘s radical new staging of Antony and Cleopatra, directed and edited by McCraney. The production, which premiered at The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Stratford-Upon-Avon in November 2013, will open in Miami Beach before it moves to The Public Theatre in New York. McCraney’s production is set on the eve of the Haitian Revolution against the French. It will run at the Colony Theater through February 9 with an additional 10 special morning performances which will be free to Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The Gala Opening of Antony and Cleopatra will be celebrated with a post-show reception at 1111 Lincoln Road. Tickets are $200 for GableStage subscribers and $250 for non-subscribers. Thereafter performances will be on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $65 to $75 and are available through Ticketmaster.
