Local favorite Madeliene Abling unveils new oil paintings at the Williams McCall Gallery South of Fifth. Kicking off with an artist reception that is open to the public on Saturday, February 1 at 6 pm, the exhibit will run until February 14. Abling is known for her thick, luscious, colorful oil paintings. Her work is figurative but with a different twist. Abling uses her palette knife to create exciting imagery of different themes. She paints images of boats, cars, and adult beverages. Abling rarely includes people in any of her work because she feels the viewer can be more easily invited into her work without the interference of people within the painting. In all of her paintings the viewer can see movement. The wind in the sails of the boats, cars chugging down a road or an adult beverage just ready for a sip!
