Join a celebration of Greek culture at the Fort Lauderdale Greek Festival being held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, just north of downtown Fort Lauderdale on February 7, 8, and 9th. Guests will dine on authentic homemade Greek food, cooked like it was in a Greek village. Lamb Souvlaki, marinated in olive oil, lemon and herbs, will be grilled to perfection and served with beef and rice), Moussaka (layers of eggplant, ground beef and topped with a cream sauce) and Spanakopita (layers of phyllo stuffed with spinach and cheese). New items include Greek Burger (Greek meatball – keftedes) and Greek fries (served with feta cheese). Visitors will be able to satisfy their “sweet tooth” as well. Delicious Greek pastries, including Baklava (layers of nuts and phyllo soaked in honey), Kourabiedes (crescent-shaped butter cookies covered with powdered sugar) and Loukomades (fried dough balls covered with honey and chopped nuts) will be served. Enjoy these desserts with Greek coffee. The event is priced at $5 for adults and children under 12 and military/police/fire are free. Parking is available at Art Serve and Holiday Park ($5). VIP Parking is also available adjacent to the church.
