The Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library will host its Third Annual Miami Moments in the Main Library which will be transformed into a tropical paradise. The evening, hosted by TV anchor Gerri Helfman, will honor long time library supporters Ruth and the late Richard Shack, along with the Miami Dolphins Foundation for its many years of dedication to library programs for youth. Enjoy musical entertainment by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Ed Calle and special guest appearances by film producer Billy Corben, award-winning author Edwidge Danticat, The Miami Foundation CEO Javier Soto and world-renowned chef Norman Van Aken. These special guests will take part in the event’s Miami Moment Minutes by relating a short story about the library, literacy, the arts or whatever is in their hearts. Tickets are $125 for one and $225 for two, and all proceeds benefit the public library’s cultural and literacy programs, most important than ever in the face of severe budget cuts.
