Join the American Heart Associationâ€™s 2014 Broward Heart Walk, activities get underway at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m. Sportacus, the super-fit and active super hero from the award winning TV series, LazyTown, will join at the Broward Heart Walk this year to meet and motivate our younger walkers.Â Patrick Taylor M.D., President and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital, will serve as chairman. He is leading the fundraising efforts by securing corporate and patron support and working closely with the American Heart Association staff as well as the Broward Heart Walkâ€™s Executive Leadership Team to drive success. This year, the American Heart Association and volunteer leadership has a fundraising goal of $500,000.Â Combining fitness and philanthropy, this annual walk brings together corporate sponsors, walk teams, individual walkers, survivors of heart disease and stroke and lifestyle change heroes who are all taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle while raising funds to combat heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 4 leading killers, respectively, of American men and women. Proceeds go toward research, education and community programs. Activities at the event include a special kidâ€™s zone, health screenings, games, entertainment and a free lunch provided by Subway.
