Wednesday, January 18, 6pm-7:30pm – Broward Main Library, 100 S Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale
Derived from Sanskrit dhyÄna, Chan means “meditation†or “meditative stateâ€. Fueled by the compassion-driven desire of a Buddhist monk, the One-Stroke Calligraphy exhibition gives a fluid, kinetic voice to enlightenment. As Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the artist, often says in describing his artwork, “Don’t just look at my characters, look for my heart within these characters.†Departing from conventional Chinese calligraphy, the exhibition focuses on adding new dimensions to its heritage. One-Stroke Calligraphy demonstrates the meaning of each artwork as arising from a meditative experience that exists beyond the boundaries of traditions. The exhibition invites the audience to explore the eternal stillness and limitless potential of the undifferentiated mind. One-Stroke Calligraphy is an immersive journey to feel the pulse of compassion and enlightenment that beats inside all of us.
